The New Croft Foundation is delighted to celebrate a fantastic achievement for our HRFC U10 Girls team, who have secured their place in this season’s Cambridgeshire Girls & Women's Football League Cup Final.
After being knocked out in the first round last season, the girls have shown incredible progress and determination to go all the way to the final this year. Their journey to the final was sealed with an outstanding semi-final victory on 7th March over Linton U10 Girls - a team who had previously beaten them twice earlier in the season. Facing a side that had already proven a tough challenge, the girls rose to the occasion, demonstrating just how far they’ve come as a team.
The final promises to be an exciting and competitive fixture, as HRFC take on reigning champions Godmanchester on Saturday 9th May. While it will undoubtedly be a tough test, there is a real sense of belief and confidence in the squad as they prepare for the big day.
Joint coach and manager Tom Brown shared his pride in the team’s journey: “I couldn’t be prouder of the girls. The progress they’ve made from last season to now has been incredible. To go from a first-round exit to reaching the final this year is a massive achievement and a testament to their hard work, commitment, and team spirit. They’ve really grown together as a group and fully deserve this moment.”
"We’re also really grateful for the support from Gym & Juice this season who have sponsored our kit & offered free juices for the girls as part of their drive to get young people into health & fitness.”
As a Foundation, we would also like to extend a huge thank you to Tom Brown and Rob Cramsie, who volunteer their time week in, week out to coach, support, and develop this fantastic group of players. Their dedication plays a huge role in the success and enjoyment of the team.
Looking ahead, this success is just the beginning. As the girls move up to U11's next season, plans are already in place to introduce a second team within the same age group - creating even more opportunities for young players to get involved. Good luck to the girls in the final, we’re all behind you!
